Simple Harmonic Motion, of "SHM," is what we get when: * something can move in one dimension, * there is a force trying to restore it to a "rest position," * the magnitude of the force is proportional to the distance from the rest position. This is easily modelled using an Ordinary Differential Equation, and the solutions are combinations of trigonometric functions.
